Seadogs, partner unveil new initiative at 2023 day of persons with disability

The National Association of Seadogs (Sahara Deck) has donated walking aids to residents of Karon majiji community in the FCT.

The donation followed the fraternity’s resolved alongside other partners to address critical challenges faced by the people of the community.

The new initiatives is in partnership with Steve Surulere Saheed Foundation (SSF).

In a press release signed by Capoon, Sahara Deck, Olamide Oni, the new initiative was to commemorate the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The press release reads in part: “This generous act reflects our commitment to uplifting human dignity and addressing societal issues.

“Established in 1952, the National Association of Seadogs is a civil and advocacy-driven organization dedicated to community support.

“On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we emphasize the lack of access to quality healthcare and the deplorable condition of the local school in Karon majiji.

“The International Day of Persons with Disabilities serves as a reminder to promote the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities and foster awareness across political, social, economic, and cultural spheres.

“Concerted efforts to support persons with disabilities will undoubtedly enhance their livelihoods.

“We urge authorities to take immediate action to ensure healthcare access and improve educational facilities for the community’s betterment,”

While calling on relevant authorities in the FCT to address their concerns, Oni in his statement added that NAS has resolved to continue to support communities in need.
