There will be an under-18 division and an under-25 division for both males and females, along with a pairs event. Sectional play will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the semifinals and finals are to be played on Sunday.

“We have a really great group of volunteers that are working tirelessly to make this event such a spectacular tournament for these athletes to attend,” said Jordan Kos, publicity director for the Regina Lawn Bowling Club.

The Regina Lawn Bowling Club last hosted a major event in 2018, when the national championship was held in the city, featuring singles, pairs and fours divisions. Now they are set to do it all over again for the Canadian youth.

“It means so much to our volunteers and to our club,” said Kos. “Being able to host an event like this is a very prestigious honour and we’re really excited just to show what the city of Regina has to offer.”

And not only is Kos helping behind the scenes with the event, but she is also competing herself in the under-25 division in her final year of eligibility.

“It’s very rewarding,” said Kos. “It’s an honour to feel like I’ve been able to volunteer and help run the event that I participate in.”

Kos is a two-time under-18 champion who has also been a member of Team Canada. She previously won a silver medal in the under-25 division, but it’s been four years since she competed in this event due to Team Canada commitments.

“I’m hoping to do well,” said Kos. “I feel like I have a very good chance of being a contender in this tournament.”

Kos is the lone Saskatchewan athlete competing in the U25 female event. Regina’s Carter Watson and Moose Jaw’s Mason Boyd will be competing in the U25 male event.

The U18 female division will feature Regina’s Isabelle McNish and Madeline Mohr, along with Saskatoon’s Julea Wong. Lorrand Wong, of Saskatoon, is the lone Saskatchewan athlete in the U18 male division.

The Regina Lawn Bowling Club is located at 3820 Victoria Ave and the event will be free of charge for spectators.
