A crime scene perimeter has been set up and the investigation was transferred to the arson squad. Investigators will try to locate video surveillance footage to find more clues. It was the second incident of suspected arson within 24 hours in Roxboro.

Another early-morning arson occurred in Town of Mount Royal. Around 2:50 a.m. Monday, 911 operators received a call reporting a burning vehicle on Graham Blvd. near Inverness Ave. Firefighters brought the flames under control.

Two vehicles parked in the private lot of a residence were targeted, police said. The first was targeted by the fire, the second by an unspecified case of mischief, police said.

According to preliminary information gathered on the scene, several suspects are believed to have used accelerants to start the fire before fleeing. A gas can was found on site.

The first vehicle is considered a total loss. No damage was caused to the property.

Arson unit investigators have taken charge of the case.
